At the Week…


Dear Levy Families,


Updates and Upcoming Events:


  • Our first School Improvement Team meeting will take place on tomorrow, September 14th at 5:00 p.m. Our first Parent-Teacher Forum meeting will take place tomorrow, September 14th at 6:00 p.m. Both meetings are held in the school library. Free babysitting is provided for school-age children during the PTF meeting! Please join us if you can - new members are ALWAYS welcome!


  • The School Store will be open for business starting this Friday, September 18th. We will also begin our Friday boxtop and “label” collections this Friday September 18th. A flyer will be coming home this week with more information! Children are able to participate in these activities on alternating weeks, based on their grade level. This Friday, children in first grade are invited to participate if they would like to. Kindergarten children will participate the following week.


  • This week and next week, we will be practicing lockdown drills in school. Staff and students will not know in advance when these drills are taking place, but everyone has been practicing and reviewing procedures, and we expect the drills to run smoothly with minimal anxiety and interruption to our days.


  • On September 23rd, the packets for our first fundraiser of the year will come home!


  • There will be a flu clinic for all ATL children and their families on Tuesday, September 29th, from 4-6:30 p.m. at the Burrillville Middle School cafeteria. More information and registration forms can be found under the Nurse’s Notes on our school website!


  • Mark your calendars! School Picture Day is October 5th!



Some Reminders:


  • Please fill out and return all paperwork if you have not already! We are still missing emergency cards! Also - please be sure to let the office know right away if there is any change to your contact information! Thank you!!


  • Please remember that changes to dismissal routines are discouraged - unexpected changes create stress and anxiety for children, something we strive to avoid if we can!  If you must make a change to your child’s dismissal routine, the office requires a note when your child arrives at school in the morning. We cannot accommodate phone call changes unless there is an emergency. We appreciate your cooperation and assistance!


  • Handicapped parking spots are clearly marked and are designated only for use by those with the proper identification tag clearly visible in the vehicle’s windshield. No other vehicle may occupy those spots at any time, for any purpose.


  • There will not be any paper newsletters coming home this year! Please be sure to check the school website regularly for updates!


Drop-off and Pick-up Information:


After this week, drop-off and pick-up information will be accessible on our website!


  • If you plan to drop your child off at school in the morning:

    • School begins promptly at 8:45. Please be on time! Children may be dropped off any time after 8:30.

    • The front circle of the school is for BUSES ONLY during drop-off time. Absolutely no other vehicles are permitted to travel or park in that area at that time.

    • Parents are asked to please park in the SIDE LOT of the school (on your left as you enter the driveway) when dropping children off.

    • Children must be escorted to the sidewalk outside the cafeteria by an adult. Please do not allow children to walk unattended through the parking lot. Children may not be released from idling vehicles.

    • Please keep traffic flowing one way - enter the lot from the school driveway, and exit the lot by the back ramp onto Mowry Street.

    • Staff members will be waiting at the doorways and on the sidewalks to direct your child if needed, and to offer any other assistance!

    • At 8:45 the cafeteria doors will be closed so that all our staff members can be at their locations for the start of school. If you arrive after 8:45 you must escort your child into the building through the front doors and sign him/her in at the office.


  • If you will be picking your child up in the afternoon:

    • The front circle of the school is for BUSES ONLY during pick-up time. Absolutely no other vehicles are permitted to travel or park in that area at that time.

    • Parents are asked to please park in the SIDE LOT of the school (on your left as you enter the driveway) when picking children up.

    • Parents may wait on the preschool ramp (adjacent to the field - look for the blue awning!) to pick up children. The school doors will open at about 3:05.

    • Children must be escorted to vehicles. Please do not allow children to walk unattended through the parking lot, or to play on or near the ramps or dumpsters.

    • Please keep traffic flowing one way - enter the lot from the school driveway, and exit the lot by the back ramp onto Mowry Street.

    • Please be prepared to show a picture ID at all times. Children will not be released to anyone without proper identification.


  • If your child will be riding the bus:

    • At this point you should expect drop-off and pick-up times to be consistent.  If you have any concerns or questions, please call DATTCO at 371-2774.
