A Sneak Peek at the Week…

Good Evening, Levy Families!

Here’s what’s happening this week...

Upcoming Events:

  • The School Improvement Team will meet tomorrow evening at 5:00 in the library to review and finalize our end-of-year parent survey! All are welcome!

  • The PTF will be holding elections for the coming school year at our meeting Tomorrow Evening at 6:00 p.m. in the library. The secretary’s and treasurer’s positions are still open! If you are interested, please contact either Jill Calapai or Darcey Johnson (jillcal06@gmail.com or darceyjohnson@yahoo.com).

  • Kindergarten Registration is this week! Children who will be 5 years old on or before September 1st this year are eligible to register for Kindergarten! Registration will be held from 4-8 p.m. this Tuesday, April 5th, and Thursday, April 7th here at the school. For more information, please see the attached flyer or visit our website at https://sites.google.com/a/bsd-ri.net/austintlevy/kindergarten-registration

  • Our Annual Sweetheart Dance is this Friday night, April 8th, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the Burrillville High School Cafeteria. We are looking forward to a great night! Some things to know:

    • Enter the building through the Main Entrance in the front - there will be tables there where you can check in, get your flowers (if you ordered them ahead of time) and receive  a group number for formal pictures.

    • Have your phones handy - there will be a “selfie-station” in the cafeteria!

    • Please remind children that they are to stay in the gym unless an adult is with them. It’s also a good idea to let children know where you will be, or to pick an easy rendezvous spot (by the stage, at the snack table, etc.) just in case you get separated - it’s dark, and it’s crowded, and each year we have a few children who “lose” Mom or Dad and get tearful!

    • Everyone who is attending the dance is automatically entered into a raffle to take home our beautiful balloon centerpieces and sculptures! We will announce the winners at the end of the evening. We ask everyone to please wait for the raffle and leave the balloons intact, as we are responsible for making sure that the bases and other materials are returned to the supplier!

  • We continue our collection of food items each month to support the Parks and Recreation Department’s Weekend Snack Pack program for our families in need. During the month of April we will gratefully accept donations of fruit snacks! Thank you for your continued generosity!

  • First Grade students are invited to bring labels and visit the school store this week!

Some Updates and Reminders:

  • Austin the Seahorse: Congratulations to Mrs. Ullom’s Kindergarten and Mrs. Surprenant’s First Grade classes who earned the most Levy Loot this week! Austin will be hanging out with them until Friday!

  • We STILL need volunteers for our Annual Sweetheart Dance on April 8th to set up (at HS) 2:30-4:00, to chaperone the event 6:00-8:30, and to assist with cleanup 8:30-9:00. If you are interested and available, please contact Jill Calapai (See email above!)

  • Reading Week is coming, the week of April 11-15! Please click the link to our flyer for more information!

  • Vacation is coming! There will be no school the week of April 18-22!

  • Morning Recess has been a big hit! We are loving having an extra few minutes to stretch our legs before a long day of learning! A couple of reminders that may be helpful:

    • Children may be dropped off as early as 8:30.

    • Parents are asked to continue parking in the side lot and escorting children to the sidewalk, as always.

    • Please DO NOT drive into or walk through the traffic circle - this area is reserved for buses only!

    • If you are dropping your child off and you do not see any adults in front of the building, please go to the main office to sign in!

    • As this little snow event showed us, our New England weather is quite variable in springtime! Please be sure that children are dressed comfortable for the predicted weather - and please be sure that they are wearing sturdy shoes that are good for running and climbing! Flip-flops, dress shoes with heels, and sandals without ankle straps pose a safety risk and are not permitted!

For information whenever you need it, please be sure to check out our Levy website at atl.bsd-ri.net.  If you have questions or concerns, please feel free to call or email me at any  time!

Have a great week!
